Brief Introduction of the Agency :
Vimochana Development Society (VDS) is established as an extension of Good News Welfare Society (R) for Rural Development Activities in the area under the leadership of Fr. Jacob P.J. The Agency is implementing various socioeconomic, education and awareness Projects in Dharwad Dist for the past 40 years. Presently VDS is running the only one English medium school for the 87 villages of Kalghatgi taluka and is also implementing the world Bank Assisted Sujala watershed Project in collaboration with Govt of Karnataka in 10 villages. The Project covers 4024 hectors of Land in 10 villages of Kalghatgi Taluka. It directly benefits 3095 families and 15678 Beneficiaries.
Moreover during the past 8 years, we are carrying on sponsorship programe for children of all the 9 Lamani tribal villages of Kalghatgi Taluka with assistance from Enfants due Monde France. At present there are 1800 children under this programme. It includes also awareness education and counseling of parents of this children.

Universal love and peace is our goal and motto. But “there can be no peace without justice and no justice without forgiveness”.
With this aim in mind we have been organizing justice struggles and mobilization of people through hunger strikes, satyagraha, “mounavratha”, letter writing campaigns, “no- shave- no- haircut” campaign and all other non-violent methods against corruption, injustice and exploitation at all levels.
